The Class 253’s were introduced in 1976 on the Western Region and the Class 254’s in 1977 on the Eastern Region. They were later introduced on to the Midland.

Station take aways and full thrash lineside passes, its all here. Enjoy the contrast of an HST being reined in passing Totness and being let loose passing Peterborough. The earth moves as examples take away from York, Doncaster and Exeter St. Davids while summer springs to life on Dawlish and Teignmouth sea walls.

Many examples are seen in the original blue and grey livery and some in the later striped paint job. There are many stunning and some smoky shots of these remarkably impressive machines in action.
